WordPress is a powerful open source website creation tool developed in PHP. More than 26% of websites running on the Internet are developed in WordPress. It provides admin panel to create, modify and publish your website.
In this article, I would like to show you how to install WordPress in Windows. Follow below easy steps and install WordPress on your local system and test.
Download the WAMP Server
Install the WAMP Server
Once download WAMP exe file. Follow the straightforward process to install WAMP Server.
First Dialog will appear, Welcome to the WampServer 2. Click Next Button
Wamp Server is also open source like WordPress, Click to I accept the agreement and click Next Button
By Default Wamp Server will be installed in C:\wamp location. You can change it.
Click Next Button
Click Install Button
Choose your default browser and Press Yes Button
PHP mail configuration, Leave it and Click Next Button
Congratulations! you have installed WAMP Server. Press Finish to close the wizard.
Setting Up Database for WordPress
For WordPress, you need to create a blank database in MySql. WAMP Server comes with MySql database. Follow below steps to create a blank database.
Go to tasks bar and click WAMP Server icon
Popup will appear, Click on phpMyAdmin option
phpMyAdmin page will appear, Enter Username root and password blank. Press go button.
In phpMyAdmin page click to New option, then enter a database name “wordpress_test”. Press create button.
Congratulation!!! You have created a database.
Installing WordPress on WAMP
After database creation, You will download WordPress setup from WordPress Official Site. The latest.zip file downloaded in your system. Extract latest.zip file in “C:\wamp\www”. The folder will be created “wordpress”. You can change folder name like myblog, mytest etc. For our case, It’s Tech2Our. Open browser and enter URL “http://localhost/Tech2our”.
Language Selection option will appear.Choose Language and click continue button.
After Selection language, You will configure your database. We created database above, enter database name “wordpress_test”,username is “root”, password is blank, database host is “localhost” and table prefix “‘wp_”. Press submit button.
Enter website title, username, password(enter at least 16 characters), email Id and click install WordPress button.
Congrats!!! you have installed WordPress in your system.
